Brooks Fights for a Podium in Round 1

"Black Rhino Performance Sponsored Athlete Jerett Brooks Fights for a Podium Finish in Round 1 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series"

April 18, 2018, El Cajon, CA - After a long off-season that was extended by a month due to inclement weather in March, Jerett Brooks came into Chandler, AZ for Round 1 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series focused and determined to start the season on a high note. Racing only one truck this year, the thought of competing at the highest level against the best short-course drivers in the world for a Pro 2 Championship is now a reality. One truck, one goal, one race at a time.

Jerett would qualify 5th on Saturday afternoon and would start the night race on the inside of row 3. As the green flag waved, Jerett would make quick work in turn 1 coming out of it in 4th place behind Rob MacCachren, RJ Anderson, and Jeremy McGrath. A quick caution would re-rack the field for a restart and Jerett maintained his position. While the battle up front heated up, Jerett would find his groove in 4th while the laps ticked away. He’d apply pressure on McGrath at the halfway point but was unable to get by. As the white flag waved, RJ Anderson would suffer a mechanical failure. This would allow a number of trucks to get by, including Jerett, as he made the pass in the final turn of the race to finish in 3rd place for his first podium of the season.

“The truck felt great all weekend. I don’t think we were the fastest but my crew did an awesome job giving me a truck capable of finishing on the podium and that’s all we can ask for to start the season”, Jerett said. “Unfortunately RJ had some issues but I kept my head down the whole race and was able to finish on the box. I can’t thank my team and all of my sponsors enough for their support!” Jerett now sits in 3rd place in the points standings as we prepare for rounds 2 & 3 in Estero Beach next month.
