Jacob Shaw BITD Laughlin Desert Classic Race Report

“Black Rhino Sponsored Athlete Jacob Shaw BITD Laughlin Desert Classic Race Report”

El Cajon, CA, May 18, 2016- The Method Race Wheels Best In The Desert Laughlin Desert Classic was held May 5, 6, 7 and 8,  2016 in Laughlin, NV.  Of course the event was fun for everyone but as most racers will tell you, "As racing goes , you have your good days and bad days."  For Jacob Shaw, overall he had a good weekend. With 2 races at the BITD Laughlin Classic, the team showed improvement with each race on the Polaris XP4 Turbo race car’s performance. Shaw reports the team is definitely moving in the right direction.

On race day 1, a rock got into the clutch of the #991 on the 1st lap and had to pit to replace the clutch. This mishap pushed them to the back of the pack for the finish.

On race day 2, everything was going good; Shaw was making haste, passing several cars that started in front of them.  "I don’t know where we were in the group for overall position but on lap 3 we broke the rear suspension. My co-driver Garrett and I were able to get the car back on the track doing whatever we had to do to limp it over the finish line but our luck ran out and the back wheel broke completely off.  We worked on getting it strapped up and were heading to the finish line again.  I’m not sure how many miles we drove it on 3 wheels with Garrett riding on the front drivers side to help keep the back passenger backside up off the ground, but we were able to make it to the finish line and drove it over on 3 wheels" Shaw recalled.

The next BITD race takes place August 17, 18, 19, 20 2016; The 2016 “Vegas to Reno” The Long Way.  “The Longest Off-Road Race in the United States!” is the 20th Anniversary of “Vegas to Reno”.  The race will begin with the festivities starting in Las Vegas, McMillin Race Day 1 will go from the start line near Alamo, NV, to Tonopah and KC HiLites Race Day 2 will go from Tonopah to Reno.
